Las Vegas Secret RevealedPublished January 05, 2010 Hidden away at his studio in Oakland, California, Mario Chiodo has been discreetly creating remarkable sculptures that one would swear were antiquities plucked out of museums. Clients such as the top notch casinos in Las Vegas and private developers discovered Chiodo years ago and have hired him repeatedly to create the signature pieces for their projects to save millions of dollars buying and importing sculpture from Europe. Born of Italian parents and raised in California, Mario Chiodo revealed his talent for dimensional artwork as a child and was placed in a school program that encouraged it. His love for the passionate figurative sculpture of the Masters of the Italian Renaissance is apparent when looking at his body of work. “Mario Chiodo is a great Classic sculptor on the level of Michaelangelo and Rodin,” states Pasquale Iannetti, owner of the Iannetti Gallery in San Francisco. “His ability to capture the ethos of the figure, the movement of the drapery, the detail that gives the sculpture its humanity – is extraordinary.” Chiodo continues to expand his collection by sculpting likenesses of the world’s greatest social changemakers, such as Gandhi, FDR and Martin Luther King, Jr., for a monument titled Remember Them: Champions for Humanity. Depending on his schedule, Chiodo still accepts commissions to create unique commemorative or feature sculpture for clients. |
