I had the honor of attending the AQUA show on behalf of the Resort Trades Management and Operations publication in November in Las Vegas. The show was a huge success, with several of our advertisers exhibiting. I got the chance to visit with each and everyone at some point in the show at their booths.
The exhibits were magnificent with setup of large spas, lap spas, huge inflatables, fog effect and rock effects for pools and spas as well as remote control fire. Many exhibitors signed a GREEN commitment statement. This commitment states for the purpose of the Aqua 2007 show that these companies are committed to include “green” products, services and practices such as: environmental health, air quality and safety, use of sustainable and renewable materials and proper recycling and waste management. There were 19 exhibiting companies participating: ASSET, Cargill Salt Div, Clearwater Spas, Coverplay, Inc., ECOsmarte Planet, Finnleo Sauna and Steam, Great American Merchandise & Events, Hasa, Inc., Innovative Aqua Systems, Inc., Jack’s Magic Products, Inc., JED Engineering, Inc., King Technology, Inc., Morton Salt, Oceanside Glasstile, O’Ryan Industries, Inc., Pebble Technology, Inc., Prozone Water Products, Rasmussen Gas Logs and Grills, Solar Sun Rings.
The show kicked off with many interesting and talented speakers (Judith Carona, Larry Drasin, Kevin Fleming, Kathy Marosz, Don Gerds, Mark Holden, David and Paul L’Heureux, George Ayer, David Tishman and Milt Dorsey and many others throughout the show. The topics of discussion ranged from Spa color and design application, The history of water in Architecture, Understanding and designing Fountains and water features, Spa and swimming pool hydraulic design, Applications of Steel and concrete to Extreme makeovers of Pool and Spas.
The industry celebration took place at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay the second night of the show. There was plenty of networking opportunities with other industry professionals as we enjoyed live music, hors d’voures and libations. Spa Toter and Cal Spas sponsored this event.
